About the Event
The IDEAthon is a free interdisciplinary design competition open to all UBC undergraduate students, where you’ll reimagine one of UBC’s most iconic public spaces—Flagpole Plaza near the Rose Garden. Students from any discipline are encouraged to participate. Compete in teams to develop creative, practical ideas for campus transformation, enjoy free lunch and snacks, and pitch your ideas to win cash prizes (Top teams: $500, $300, $200, plus a $100 People’s Choice Award).
Participants will work collaboratively to address social, environmental, aesthetic, safety, and transportation dimensions of public space design. Whether you’re studying engineering, architecture, urban planning, environmental science, or any other discipline, your perspective matters!
