Project Proposal:

 

(Core)idor seeks to reconnect the residents of West Baltimore by creating pathways that empower the community to reclaim their spatial agency. By centering rhythm, music, and dance,(Core)idor turns the rhythm of West Baltimore into a driving force for renewal -- creating dynamic spaces that not only meet the community’s immediate needs, but also envision a future where West Baltimore thrives with resilience and inclusivity.

Our design is guided by three core values: Consistency, Reliability, and Movement—each playing a crucial role in fostering trust and connection. 

These values drive the project’s three main goals.

 

First, Connection at All Scales. (Core)idor aims to reconnect West Baltimore by linking neighborhoods from east to west, re-establishing connections between residents and the larger city.

 

Second, Trust through a Recognizable Rhythm. (Core)idor builds trust by incorporating familiar patterns into the design —both architecturally and socially. The placement of programs along the Core Pathway creates spaces that are capable of evolving with the community’s needs.

 

Third, our project aims to activate these spaces through DANCE & MUSIC. The project integrates these elements with open plazas, interactive dance spaces, and music-filled pathways, inviting spontaneous movement and fostering community engagement. These spaces are designed to be active hubs that celebrate the neighborhood’s creative spirit.

 

(Core)idor places trust and community at its center, using these values to anchor every aspect of the design, ensuring that all who live, work, and visit the site feel connected to it.
